Akers and Nye met in 2019 while recording the soundtrack for the movie Cheyenne and quickly hit it off with their affinity for obscure movie quotes and their love of R&B, Funk and Soul music. They draw from growing up in the 70s, when the radio was alive with the brilliance of Stevie Wonder, Steely Dan, Ray Charles and The Beatles. Hubcap Moses brings the big ole nasty git down party with original songs recorded with Nashville’s finest session players and some of their favorite soul-cat covers.
Tim Akers is an arranger/conductor, keyboard player, songwriter, and producer living in Nashville, TN. His work as a studio session player has landed him on recordings for Kid Rock, Kenny Loggins, Michael McDonald, Faith Hill, Keith Urban, Megadeth, Michael Bolton, Rascal Flatts, Jewel, LeAnn Rimes, Trace Adkins, Glen Campbell, Barry Manilow, actor Jeff Bridges, Patti LaBelle, Joss Stone, Wynonna, and many others too numerous to mention. He has also worked on the movie soundtracks for “Chicken Little”, “Evan Almighty”, “Herbie Fully Loaded”, “The Prince of Egypt”, “We Were Soldiers”, “Kissing Jessica Stein”, and “Anastasia”. His band, Tim Akers & The Smoking Section, a handpicked 16-piece horn/funk band made up of Nashville session aces.
Producer, composer, and singer, Brad Nye studied at the Musicians Institute of Technology in Hollywood, CA and then toured with both Van Halen and Hall & Oates. At the same time, Brad was voice, co-wrote, produced and performed in national commercials for McDonald’s, Brown’s Chicken, Miller Genuine Draft and more. Brad has co-written a full-length feature screenplay, Cheyenne, and the movie is in development. He co-wrote, performed and co-produced the soundtrack as well.
